What is Crash Detection?
How It Works
Your device doesn't just "guess" you're in a wreck; it uses a fusion of high-tech sensors and sophisticated algorithms to confirm a high-impact collision.
-
G-Force Accelerometer: Measures extreme increases or decreases in pressure, detecting up to 256 Gs of force.
-
Three-Axis Gyroscope: Monitors rapid changes in the car’s orientation (like a rollover).
-
Barometer: Detects the sudden change in air pressure caused by airbags deploying.
- Microphone: Listens for the specific, deafening sounds of a crash, like metal crunching or glass breaking (processed locally on-device for privacy).
- Advanced Algorithms: The device compares all this data against over a million hours of real-world crash and driving data to minimize "false positives" (like slamming your brakes or hitting a pothole).
The Response Sequence
If the sensors trigger a crash alert, here is what happens:
-
The Alert: The device displays a warning and sounds an alarm for about 10 seconds.
-
The Check-in: If you’re conscious, you can swipe the screen to call emergency services immediately or dismiss the alert if it was a mistake.
- The Automatic Call: If you don't respond after 20 seconds, the device automatically dials emergency services (like 911).
- The Message: It plays a looped audio message to the dispatcher, giving them your latitude and longitude coordinates and a search radius.
-
Emergency Contacts: Once the call ends, the device sends a text to your pre-set emergency contacts with your location to let them know you've been in a crash.
NekInsan Crash Detection
NekInsan Crash Detection is a specialized road safety system, primarily used in India, that uses a unique hybrid of human-activated QR codes and smartphone-based sensors.
Unlike the fully automated systems from Apple or Google, NekInsan focuses on bridging the "Golden Hour" gap by allowing bystanders to help you if you are incapacitated.
1. The Safety QR System (Reactive)
The core of NekInsan is a physical Safety QR Sticker that you place on your vehicle (windshield, helmet, etc.).
-
Bystander Intervention: In a crash, a "Good Samaritan" (a Nek Insan) scans your QR code with any smartphone.
-
Instant Siren Alert: Your emergency contacts receive a loud siren notification that can bypass silent mode or lock screens.
-
Media Documentation: The person who scans the code can take a photo or video of the scene, which is sent instantly to your family along with your precise GPS location.
-
Call Masking: The bystander can call your family via a virtual number to coordinate help while keeping everyone's personal phone numbers private.
2. Proactive Monitoring (Preventative)
The NekInsan mobile app also uses your phone's built-in sensors (GPS, accelerometer) to prevent accidents before they happen:
-
Overspeed & Rash Driving Alerts: If the app detects erratic movement or high speeds, it can notify your family members.
-
Family Intervention: Your family can record an audio message (e.g., "Dad, please slow down") that plays automatically through your phone if you exceed speed limits.
-
Black-Spot Warnings: The app alerts you when you are approaching known accident-prone zones.
3. The SOS Feature
If you are conscious but in trouble, the app includes a manual SOS button. When pressed, it:
-
Shares your live location.
-
Records and sends a 1-minute audio clip of your surroundings to your contacts.
-
Triggers the same high-priority siren on your family’s devices.
Comparison: NekInsan vs. Apple/Google
| Feature | Apple/Google | NekInsan |
| Trigger | Automatic (Sensors) | Human-activated (QR Scan) or Manual (SOS) |
| Verification | AI Algorithm | Visual (Bystander photos/videos) |
| Communication | Direct to 911/112 | Direct to Family + Local Helplines |
| Goal | Dispatching EMS | Family notification & Bystander help |
To get started with NekInsan, you’ll need the physical QR stickers and the mobile app to link them to your emergency contacts.
Here is a quick guide on how to get the stickers and set up the family safety features.
1. Where to Buy NekInsan QR Stickers
You can purchase these directly from the official NekInsan website or major Indian e-commerce platforms like IndiaMART. They usually come in packs of 2 or 3.
| Product Type | Estimated Price (Sale) | What's Included |
| Car Safety QR | ₹599 | 2 Rectangular (windshields) + 1 Round (dashboard) |
| Bike Safety QR | ₹549 | 2 Rectangular (mudguards) + 1 Round (helmet) |
| Car Premium QR | ₹1,199 | Adds features like Live Map Tracking for everyone |
| Personal QR | ₹399 - ₹599 | Tags for Kids' bags, Pets, or Wallets |
2. How to Set Up the App
The app is currently available for Android (search "Nek Insan: Safety QR SOS Alert" in the Play Store).
Step 1: Register Your Sticker
-
Open the app and tap "Register Sticker" or "Scan to Call".
-
Scan the unique QR code on your new physical sticker.
-
Link it to your vehicle by entering your number plate and vehicle model.
Step 2: Add Emergency Contacts (Crucial)
-
Go to your Profile or the Menu icon.
-
Select "Emergency Contact" or "Family Numbers."
-
Add 3 to 5 trusted mobile numbers.
-
Important: These contacts will receive the "Siren Alert" that bypasses silent mode if your QR is scanned or if you trigger an SOS.
3. How to Use "Family Control" (Tracking)
This is the feature that lets your family monitor your speed and safety in real-time.
-
Start a Journey: On the home screen, tap "Route Tracking". Enter your destination and select which family member should monitor you.
-
Speed Monitoring: You can set a speed limit (e.g., 80 km/h). If you exceed it, the app sends a notification to your family.
-
Audio Intervention: Your family can record a voice message (like "Drive safely, Dad!") through the app. If you overspeed, this message will automatically play through your phone’s speakers to alert you.
Pro-Tip: "Display Over Other Apps"
To ensure the siren alerts and family voice messages work even while you're using Google Maps for navigation, make sure you grant the NekInsan app the "Display Over Other Apps" permission in your phone settings.
