SOS Alert
How SOS Alert Works
When you activate the SOS feature—usually by tapping a dedicated button in the app or via a physical Safety QR sticker—the following actions occur simultaneously:
-
Siren Alert: A loud siren sounds on your emergency contacts' phones, even if their devices are on silent or locked.
-
Live Location Sharing: Your precise GPS coordinates are sent to your pre-selected contacts, allowing them to track your location in real-time on a live map.
-
Multimedia Context: The app can instantly capture and share photos, videos, or a 1-minute audio recording of your surroundings so your family knows exactly what is happening.
-
Automatic Display: The incident details (photo/location) often pop up directly on your emergency contacts' lock screens for immediate visibility.
Key Features of the Nekinsan Ecosystem
Beyond the manual SOS button, NekInsan uses Safety QR stickers for various scenarios:
| Feature | How it Helps |
| Vehicle Safety QR | If you're in an accident, a bystander can scan the sticker on your car/bike. It alerts your family with the crash location and photos. |
| Child/Pet Safety | QR badges for kids or pets that, when scanned, instantly notify the guardian and provide the scanner with a "masked call" option. |
| Call Masking | Protects your privacy by allowing bystanders to call your emergency contacts through the app without seeing your actual phone number. |
| Route Tracking | A "Jeevan Raksha" feature that lets loved ones monitor your journey and alerts them if you are over-speeding or driving recklessly. |
How to Set It Up
-
Download the App: Search for "Nek Insan" on the Google Play Store.
-
Add Emergency Contacts: This is the most critical step. Add the mobile numbers of 3–5 trusted people.
-
Permissions: Ensure the app has "Always Allow" access to your location and permission to "Display over other apps" so the siren can bypass lock screens.
To set up your Nekinsan SOS Alert, follow these steps to ensure the siren and live tracking work correctly when you need them most.
1. Initial App Setup
-
Download: Install the "Nek Insan: Safety QR SOS Alert" app from the Google Play Store.
-
Permissions: When prompted, allow the app to access your Location (set to "Always Allow"), Camera, and Microphone.
-
Draw Over Other Apps: This is critical. Enable this permission in your phone settings so the siren and alerts can appear over your lock screen.
2. Add Emergency Contacts
The SOS feature only works if the app knows who to alert.
-
Open the app and tap on Profile or the Menu icon.
-
Look for "Emergency Contact" or "Family Numbers."
-
Add 3 to 5 trusted people. These individuals will receive the siren alert and your live map link if you trigger the SOS.
3. Using the SOS Feature
Once set up, you can trigger an alert in two ways:
-
In-App Button: Open the app and tap the SOS button in the footer menu.
-
Choose Mode: You can select Audio (records up to 1 minute), Video, or a direct SOS Call.
-
The Result: Your contacts' phones will sound a loud siren (even if on silent), and they will see your photo/video and live GPS location immediately.
If You Have a Safety QR Sticker
If you bought a physical sticker (for your car, bike, or a child’s bag):
-
Tap "Register Sticker" or "Scan to Call" in the app.
-
Scan your unique QR code to link it to your profile.
-
Affix it to your vehicle or item. Now, if a bystander scans it during an accident, your family is alerted automatically via the same siren system.
Note: For your safety, NekInsan uses Call Masking. This means if a stranger scans your QR code to help you, they can call your family through the app without ever seeing your private phone number.
